Seminar objectives

This seminar will be teaching high school student government representatives of 31 high schools in Broward County effective leadership skills, including instruction on refusal, negotiation, and helping skills.

EVENT RATIONALE

The rationale for teaching high school student government representatives leadership skills is to provide the necessary stimulus for these students to exert a postive impact on the general student populations of each school. By so doing, we can begin to break the patterns of rampant negative roll modeling which accounts for high drop out rates and negative student stereotyping. Additionally, and most importantly, by teaching roll models how to positively influence others, we can begin to address the problem of increaed drug use and suicide among our young people.
